I have just moved to Montana. How do I become licensed to practice in Montana?

Go to Advocacy in this site and view the Montana Nutrition Licensure page.

How do I change my address for the Academy mailings?

To change your contact information with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and insure you receive all Academy correspondence and your registration/membership renewal… Go to eatright.org and in the upper right hand side of the home page click on ‘My Academy’. Login to the member site and see ‘Welcome, (your name)’ in the top right section of the next page. Click ‘My Profile’ and then click ‘Update Contact Information’ and follow the directions. It is as simple as that.

How do I purchase your mailing list?

Our purchasing process is as follows:

  • The requesting organization may contact the MTAND President by email to make a request. The membership roster will be used for the stated purpose on a one time only basis.
  • A copy of the program or other materials being mailed to members must be provided for review by the President and if the case warrants, the Executive Committee.
  • The fee of $30.00 must be paid in advance prior to sending roster.
  • If the use for the list complies with MTAND policies and procedures, the request will be filled within 14 days of receipt.

What are the qualifications of a registered dietitian?

A registered dietitian is a food and nutrition expert who has met academic and professional requirements including:

  • Earned a bachelor’s degree with course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Coursework typically includes food and nutrition sciences, foodservice systems management, business, economics, computer science, sociology, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology and chemistry.
  • Completed an accredited, supervised practice program at a health-care facility, community agency or foodservice corporation.
  • Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Completes continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.
  • Approximately 50 percent of RDs hold advanced degrees. Some RDs also hold additional certifications in specialized areas of practice, such as pediatric or renal nutrition, nutrition support and diabetes education.

Registered dietitians who are members of the Academy are not only food and nutrition experts—they are leaders in the field of dietetics. Every one of the Academy’s wide array of member benefits is designed to advance their knowledge and skills and enhance their networking opportunities.
